Commandos Strike Force takes players back to World War II, joining the ranks of the legendary Commandos. In a departure from the traditional top-down tactical gameplay of previous Commandos titles, Strike Force puts players in the boots of the soldiers themselves, offering a fresh first-person perspective on the action.
As a member of the Strike Force unit, players can choose between three different characters, each with their own unique play style. The Green Beret is a combat specialist, skilled in heavy weaponry and always ready for intense action. The Sniper requires nerves of steel and precise marksmanship to take out targets from a distance. And the Spy excels in stealthy operations, striking at the heart of the enemy undetected.
The game offers players the freedom to execute their plans of attack using the Commandos’ distinct skills. Whether it’s storming a Nazi-occupied town, rescuing French Resistance prisoners, or kidnapping a high-ranking officer, players have the flexibility to approach each mission in their own way, adding a layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.
Set in war-torn Europe, Commandos Strike Force offers a variety of missions that take players deep behind enemy lines in France, Norway, and Russia. The game’s atmospheric environments and detailed level design create an immersive experience that captures the essence of the era. For fans of classic war games, this nostalgic feel is sure to evoke memories of the genre’s golden age.
While Commandos Strike Force certainly has its merits, there are some aspects that hold it back from reaching its full potential. The game’s controls can feel clunky and imprecise at times, hindering the overall gameplay experience. Additionally, the AI of both friendly and enemy characters can be unpredictable and inconsistent, leading to moments of frustration.
Despite these drawbacks, Commandos Strike Force does offer a compelling single-player campaign that will keep players engaged. Moreover, the game includes a range of online multiplayer modes, offering a chance for players to test their skills against others in heated battles.
In conclusion, Commandos Strike Force brings a new perspective to the beloved Commandos series. While it may not surpass the excellence of its predecessors, it still manages to offer an enjoyable experience that will satisfy fans of classic war games.
