Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom for PC is an ambitious Action-RPG that attempts to transport players to a captivating universe threatened by imminent destruction. Developed by indie studio Enigami, Shiness seeks to evoke a sense of nostalgia for retro gaming enthusiasts with its classic RPG elements and lush, vibrant visuals.
One of the standout features of Shiness is its charming art style and attention to detail. The game’s colorful and intricate environments bring to mind the whimsical landscapes of classic RPGs, creating a sense of wonder and exploration. From lush forests to grand cities, each area is beautifully crafted and begs to be explored.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, Shiness offers a blend of real-time combat and traditional RPG elements. Players can engage in exciting, fast-paced battles against a variety of enemies, utilizing a diverse range of skills and abilities. While the combat system is fluid and satisfying, it lacks depth and complexity, resulting in a somewhat repetitive experience over time.
Furthermore, the narrative of Shiness attempts to immerse players in its vast and intricate world. However, the storytelling falls short in execution, with a lackluster plot that fails to fully captivate or engage the player. The dialogue and character interactions also feel somewhat forced, hindering emotional investment in the game’s events.
Despite its flaws, Shiness manages to capture the essence of classic RPGs with its charming aesthetics and nostalgic atmosphere. The game’s soundtrack, composed by renowned composer Hiroki Kikuta, contributes to the retro gaming feel, transporting players back to the golden era of RPGs.
In conclusion, Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom for PC is an ambitious title that falls short of its full potential. While its visuals and nostalgic appeal may attract retro gaming enthusiasts, its lackluster storytelling and repetitive gameplay prevent it from reaching the heights of its inspirations. Nevertheless, those who can overlook these flaws may find enjoyment in the captivating universe and vibrant aesthetics that Shiness has to offer.
