As a seasoned retro gaming enthusiast, I must say that the Hitman – Intro Pack for Xbox One left much to be desired. While it provided an introduction to the world of HITMAN, with the Prologue and Paris episode, it fell short in terms of delivering a truly immersive and captivating gaming experience.
One aspect that did draw on nostalgic feelings was the inclusion of Contracts Mode. This feature allowed players to create and share their own missions, reminiscent of classic games where user-generated content added depth and replayability. It was a welcome addition that brought a sense of community engagement to the game.
Additionally, Escalation Mode provided an interesting twist to the gameplay. With each level becoming progressively challenging, it mirrored the difficulty escalation found in older games, where mastering levels required both skill and patience. This mode offered a taste of the good old days of gaming, evoking a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment upon completion.
However, despite these redeeming features, the Hitman – Intro Pack fell short in terms of its overall execution. The game lacked the depth and complexity that would truly engage players and keep them coming back for more. The storyline felt underdeveloped, leaving players craving a more robust and immersive narrative experience.
Furthermore, while elusive targets and other live content were advertised as part of the package, their inclusion felt lacking and failed to deliver the anticipated excitement. It would have been fantastic to see these elements fully realized, offering players the chance to truly immerse themselves in the world of HITMAN.
From a technical standpoint, the game suffered from occasional glitches and performance issues, which were reminiscent of the challenges faced by game developers in the early days of gaming. While this may have added a touch of authenticity and nostalgia for some retro gaming enthusiasts, it ultimately hindered the overall enjoyment of the game.
In conclusion, the Hitman – Intro Pack for Xbox One, while attempting to channel the spirit of classic gaming, fell short in delivering a truly captivating and immersive experience. While the inclusion of Contracts Mode and Escalation Mode offered moments of nostalgia and engagement, the overall execution of the game left much to be desired. It lacked the depth and complexity that would have truly captivated players and fell short in delivering on its advertised live content. With a rating of 3.5/10, it is safe to say this game did not live up to its potential.
