Excitebots: Trick Racing for the Wii is a high-speed racing game that offers a unique and entertaining experience for players. With its combination of robotic insect and animal racers, Wii Wheel controls, and a variety of mini-games and challenges, it’s a game that aims to please.
Building on the foundation laid by its predecessor, Excite Truck, Excitebots takes things up a notch with its wild and nonstop fun. The game presents players with a constant barrage of funky challenges and mini-games that are performed at blinding speed. From shooting goals to throwing pies and even playing poker in the middle of races, Excitebots never fails to keep players on their toes.
One of the standout features of Excitebots is its emphasis on style. While it’s important to drive, walk, or fly around the track quickly, it’s even more important to do so in a stylish manner. Players are rewarded with stars for pulling off huge jumps, cool tricks, and daring feats at high speed. This adds an element of skill and strategy to the game, as players must constantly strive to outdo themselves and earn the most stars.
In terms of multiplayer options, Excitebots excels. Up to six players can race online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in both Excite Race and Poker Race modes. This allows for some intense and competitive racing action against others from around the world. If friends are unavailable to join online, players can also exchange ghost data via WiiConnect24 and challenge their friends to beat their most daring tricks.
While Excitebots offers a unique and entertaining racing experience, it does have its drawbacks. The game’s graphics and visuals, while colorful and vibrant, do not quite live up to the standards set by other Wii games. Additionally, the controls, particularly when using the Wii Wheel, can be a bit finicky and imprecise at times. These issues can detract from the overall experience, making it less enjoyable for some players.
In conclusion, Excitebots: Trick Racing for the Wii is a game that brings high-speed action and a variety of fun challenges to the racing genre. With its unique robotic racers, mini-games, and emphasis on style, it offers a nostalgic feel reminiscent of classic games. However, it falls short in terms of graphics and controls, which may dampen the experience for some players. Overall, Excitebots is a solid game that is worth a play for retro gaming enthusiasts looking for a fun and fast-paced racing experience.
