Futuridium EP Deluxe for PlayStation VITA is a game that attempts to capture the essence of retro shoot’em ups while adding a modern twist. Developed and published by MixedBag Srl, this game aims to ignite nostalgia in seasoned gamers while providing a fresh experience for newcomers to the genre.
One of the standout features of Futuridium EP Deluxe is its stunning 3D graphics. The visuals are crisp, vibrant, and reminiscent of the arcade classics of yesteryears. The attention to detail in the design of the futuristic landscapes and enemy spacecrafts is commendable. It truly feels like you are transported back to the golden age of gaming.
The soundtrack of Futuridium EP Deluxe is another notable aspect of the game. The adrenaline-pumping 45-minute soundtrack perfectly complements the fast-paced gameplay and adds an extra layer of immersion. The catchy tunes and synth-heavy melodies evoke memories of classic game soundtracks, further enhancing the retro gaming experience.
However, while Futuridium EP Deluxe succeeds in capturing the aesthetic and sound of retro games, its gameplay leaves something to be desired. The controls can feel clunky and imprecise at times, which can be frustrating, especially during intense battles. This lack of fluidity detracts from the overall enjoyment of the game and prevents it from reaching its full potential.
Additionally, the gameplay itself may feel repetitive to some players. The objective is to destroy a specific number of energy cubes within a given time limit, which becomes repetitive after a while. The lack of variety in missions and objectives may leave players longing for more diverse and engaging gameplay experiences.
Despite its flaws, Futuridium EP Deluxe remains a visually stunning and nostalgia-inducing experience. For fans of retro shoot’em ups, this game offers a glimpse into the past while also incorporating modern elements. It may not be a perfect game, but its ability to evoke feelings of nostalgia and its impressive visual and audio presentation make it worth a try for retro gaming enthusiasts.
