Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star for PlayStation VITA is a game that attempts to capture the nostalgic charm of classic RPGs while also pushing the boundaries of the genre. While it may not be a perfect experience, it certainly has its moments of brilliance.
One of the standout features of Ar nosurge Plus is its unique storytelling. The game follows two sets of characters with distinct goals, Delta and Casty, as well as Ion and Earthes. The ability to switch between these two pairs adds a layer of depth to the narrative, allowing players to explore different perspectives and uncover the mysteries that surround their journey.
The game’s developers, Gust, have done an admirable job of creating a world that feels both familiar and original. The art style is reminiscent of vintage RPGs, with pixelated graphics and charming character designs. This attention to detail gives Ar nosurge Plus a nostalgic feel, evoking memories of classic games from the past.
However, the game does have its shortcomings. The combat system, while serviceable, feels a bit simplistic compared to other RPGs. The lack of depth in character customization and strategic options may disappoint players looking for a more engaging battle system.
Another area where Ar nosurge Plus falls short is its pacing. The game’s storyline takes a while to fully unfold, and the slow buildup may test the patience of some players. Additionally, the game’s emphasis on dialogue and lengthy cutscenes may deter those who prefer a more action-oriented experience.
Despite its flaws, Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star still manages to capture the essence of classic RPGs. The blend of nostalgia and innovation is commendable, and fans of retro gaming will find plenty to appreciate. While it may not be a game that appeals to everyone, those who are willing to invest the time and effort will be rewarded with a unique and thought-provoking experience.
