ZEN Pinball 2: Aliens Vs. Pinball for PlayStation 4 offers a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of both retro gaming and the iconic ALIEN franchise. With three thrilling pinball tables, this game captures the essence of classic pinball machines while immersing players in the intense world of Ellen Ripley and the Xenomorphs.
The first table, inspired by the movie Aliens, puts players in the shoes of Ripley as she battles the menacing Alien Queen and aids the Colonial Marines in eliminating the alien threat on LV-426. The attention to detail in this table is commendable, with authentic voiceovers and sound effects from the ALIEN franchise adding to its nostalgic appeal.
The second table, based on the game Alien: Isolation, takes players on a suspenseful journey through the dangerous halls of Sevastopol Station. As Amanda Ripley, players must evade the relentless Xenomorph, adding an element of tension and excitement to the gameplay. The table design successfully captures the atmosphere of isolation and fear that made the game so memorable.
Lastly, the Alien vs. Predator Pinball table allows players to immerse themselves in the epic battle between the Xenomorphs and the Yautja. As players rise through the ranks of Yautja society, they must strategically choose their allies to defeat the relentless Xenomorphs. This table captures the essence of the classic Alien vs. Predator concept and provides an engaging pinball experience.
While ZEN Pinball 2: Aliens Vs. Pinball excels in its nostalgic appeal and dedication to the ALIEN franchise, it falls short in some areas. The gameplay can feel repetitive and lacks depth, making it difficult for players to stay engaged for extended periods. Additionally, the graphics, while faithful to the retro aesthetic, can sometimes lack the visual polish expected in modern gaming.
However, if you are a fan of the ALIEN franchise or simply seek a nostalgic pinball experience, ZEN Pinball 2: Aliens Vs. Pinball for PlayStation 4 is worth exploring. Its homage to classic pinball machines and the iconic ALIEN universe creates a sense of immersion and excitement. Just don’t expect groundbreaking gameplay or cutting-edge graphics. This game is a love letter to retro gaming enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into the past while capturing the essence of what made vintage games so captivating.
