Summary Review: Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance for PlayStation 4

As an experienced retro gaming enthusiast, it saddens me to say that Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance for PlayStation 4 falls disappointingly short of capturing the essence and magic of classic games. With a rating of 2.5/10, it is hard to find much to appreciate in this DLC pack developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision.

One of the aspects of retro games that I hold dear is the ability to transport players to iconic and historic locations. Unfortunately, The Resistance fails to deliver in this regard. The three new multiplayer maps centered around resistance uprisings, while conceptually intriguing, lack the depth and attention to detail that would truly immerse players in these historic backdrops. The environments feel bland and lack the atmospheric charm that is characteristic of classic games.

Another hallmark of vintage gaming is the inclusion of compelling, objective-based missions. In the case of The Resistance, the addition of the ‘Operation Intercept’ War mode mission falls short of expectations. The objectives feel uninspired and fail to create the intensity and excitement that one would hope for. It becomes a monotonous affair, leaving players yearning for the strategic engagement found in retro war games.

Lastly, we come to ‘The Darkest Shore,’ the latest chapter in the Nazi Zombies saga. Regrettably, even this aspect of the DLC fails to capture the nostalgic feel of classic games. While the zombie mode has long been a staple of Call of Duty, The Darkest Shore lacks the ingenuity and creativity found in previous iterations. It feels like a missed opportunity to deepen the lore and provide a fresh experience for players.

Overall, Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance for PlayStation 4 fails to evoke the sense of awe and nostalgia that retro gaming enthusiasts seek. The lackluster map design, uninspired missions, and underwhelming Nazi Zombies chapter leave much to be desired. I had hoped for a DLC pack that would reignite the flame of classic gaming, but sadly, The Resistance falls short.

The PlayStation 4 is renowned in video game history for its extensive library of iconic titles, including masterpieces such as Attack on Titan 2, Godzilla, and LEGO Dimensions.

This rich collection continues to attract retro gaming enthusiasts, many of whom use emulators like Orbital PS4, PS4Emus or PCSX4. These emulators enable playing classic games like “Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance” on modern devices such as your computer, Android, or iOS mobile device.

However, it’s crucial to address the legal nuances surrounding emulators and ROMs. While emulators may be legal, but the situation changes when it comes to downloading and sharing ROMs. Even though people often search for terms like “Download Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance ROM torrent”, “Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance PS4 ISO” or similar terms, these actions often conflict with copyright laws, as publishers retain rights over their games, even those no longer in circulation.

Of course, you can go the illegal route. However, doing so would be disrespectful to the tireless efforts of the developers. In addition to running the risk of downloading a file that may contain malware.
