Senran Kagura: Estival Versus for PC is a game that certainly knows its target audience. With its high-flying ninja girls and over-the-top fan service, it leaves no doubt about its intentions. However, beyond the surface-level appeal, the game falls short in several crucial areas.
Firstly, the gameplay itself is underwhelming. While there is a wide array of moves and characters to choose from, the combat lacks depth and variety. It quickly becomes repetitive, and the lack of strategic options diminishes the overall experience. The controls are also clunky and imprecise, which can be frustrating during intense battles.
The story, while promised to be engaging and scandalous, falls flat. It relies too heavily on cliches and predictable plot twists, failing to deliver on its potential. The characters themselves are mostly one-dimensional, with shallow motivations and little development. This makes it difficult to truly connect with them or become invested in their journeys.
Additionally, the graphics and visuals are a mixed bag. While the character models are well-rendered and detailed, the environments are lackluster and uninspired. The overall presentation feels dated and fails to capture the nostalgia or charm of classic games that it seems to be aiming for.
On a positive note, the multiplayer aspect of Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is a standout feature. The ability to engage in online matches with up to 10 players (on the PS4 version) adds an element of excitement and competition. It is a welcome addition that can provide hours of enjoyment for those seeking multiplayer experiences.
In conclusion, Senran Kagura: Estival Versus for PC is a game that may appeal to a specific group of players who prioritize fan service and multiplayer action over depth and innovation. While it offers a nostalgic feel and some moments of enjoyment, its lackluster gameplay, underdeveloped story, and dated visuals prevent it from truly shining. It’s a game that knows its strengths, but fails to capitalize on them to create a memorable and fulfilling experience.
