Pony Friends for Nintendo DS takes players on an exciting journey through the world of virtual pet ponies. With its emphasis on grooming and accessorizing, this game allows players to fully immerse themselves in the experience of caring for their own pet pony. From selecting vibrant custom gear to going on thrilling trail rides, this game offers a comprehensive and interactive environment for children to learn about responsible pet ownership.
Developed by Tantalus, Pony Friends captures the essence of classic virtual pet games by providing players with a range of activities to engage in. The game successfully recreates the joy and fulfillment that comes with nurturing and building a bond with a virtual pet. It serves as a reminder of the timeless appeal of this genre, reminiscent of beloved retro games that have captivated generations of players.
Although Pony Friends offers an enjoyable and immersive experience, it does have its drawbacks. The game’s graphics, while charmingly nostalgic, are unfortunately subpar for the Nintendo DS. The pixelated visuals often detract from the overall experience, failing to fully capitalize on the potential of the console. Additionally, the gameplay mechanics can feel repetitive and simplistic, lacking the depth and complexity that more modern virtual pet games offer.
While Pony Friends offers an endearing nostalgic feel, its overall execution falls short of its full potential. The game’s mechanics and graphics may not hold up to today’s standards, but its heart is in the right place. For retro gaming enthusiasts or those seeking a dose of virtual pet nostalgia, this game may still hold some appeal. However, for those looking for a more polished and captivating virtual pet experience, Pony Friends may not be the best choice.
In conclusion, Pony Friends for Nintendo DS offers a trip down memory lane for fans of classic virtual pet games. Its emphasis on grooming and caring for a virtual pony evokes a sense of nostalgia, harkening back to the golden age of gaming. However, the game’s outdated graphics and simplistic gameplay mechanics prevent it from realizing its full potential. While it may be worth a playthrough for those seeking a nostalgic experience, it ultimately falls short of delivering a truly captivating and immersive virtual pet game.
The Nintendo DS is renowned in video game history for its extensive library of iconic titles, including masterpieces such as Pokémon Platinum Version, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, and Super Mario 64 DS.
This rich collection continues to attract retro gaming enthusiasts, many of whom use emulators like DeSmuMe, MelonDS or RetroArch. These emulators enable playing classic games like “Pony Friends” on modern devices such as your computer, Android, or iOS mobile device.
However, it’s crucial to address the legal nuances surrounding emulators and ROMs. While emulators may be legal, but the situation changes when it comes to downloading and sharing ROMs. Even though people often search for terms like “Download Pony Friends ROM torrent”, “Pony Friends DS ISO” or similar terms, these actions often conflict with copyright laws, as publishers retain rights over their games, even those no longer in circulation.
Of course, you can go the illegal route. However, doing so would be disrespectful to the tireless efforts of the developers. In addition to running the risk of downloading a file that may contain malware.
At RomsMania, we do not encourage or promote the downloading of ROMs or ISO files, not even for discontinued titles. Therefore, we do not host or link to any copyrighted content.

- Online Retailers: Websites like Amazon, Eneba or Ebay offer a wide selection of games and gaming accessories, including classic PSP titles.
- Specialized Retro Game Stores: There are online stores that sell retro videogames such as DKoldies, JJGames, Lukie Games or Level Up dedicated to selling retro video games, providing access to a variety of discontinued titles.
- Second-hand stores: Second-hand stores are also an excellent option, as they usually have a video game area where you can find games and consoles that you thought would be impossible to get. Besides, it is very likely that you have one near your home.
