Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized for Nintendo DS is a valiant attempt to bring the intense and immersive experience of the Modern Warfare franchise to handheld gaming. While the game certainly captures the essence of the series, it falls short in various aspects, earning it a rating of 3.5 out of 10.
One of the standout features of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized is its array of cutting-edge weaponry and vehicles. Players are armed with an impressive arsenal of weaponry and have the opportunity to take control of military vehicles like battle tanks and UAV spy drones. These elements create an authentic and thrilling combat experience, reminiscent of classic Call of Duty titles.
The game also offers precision controls, allowing players to engage in intense building-to-building tactical combat on the ground. Additionally, players can hack into enemy computer terminals, adding an extra layer of strategic gameplay. These features contribute to the nostalgic feel of the game, harkening back to the roots of the beloved franchise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized introduces a unique storyline and companion narrative specifically tailored for Nintendo DS fans. While this attempt at a captivating narrative is commendable, it ultimately falls flat, failing to engage players on a deep level. The lackluster story may leave players yearning for the immersive storytelling seen in previous Call of Duty installments.
The multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized offer a mixed bag of experiences. The six-player online multiplayer mode allows friends to host their own servers, providing a sense of community and customizable gameplay. Additionally, the brand new Survival Mode injects excitement as players must hold off waves of oncoming enemies. However, the expanded six-player online multiplayer mode lacks the polish and balance seen in other Call of Duty games, leading to frustrating and uneven matches.
Arcade Mode is another feature that attempts to prolong the game’s lifespan. Allowing players to replay the single-player campaign with a time limit and running score, this mode adds a layer of challenge and competition. Extra points are awarded for specific achievements, incentivizing players to revisit levels and strive for higher scores.
In conclusion, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized for Nintendo DS is a commendable effort to bring the franchise to handheld gaming. While it captures the essence of the Modern Warfare series with its array of weapons and vehicles, the game falls short in terms of its lackluster storyline and unbalanced multiplayer modes. Retro gaming enthusiasts may find enjoyment in the nostalgic aspects of the game, but overall, it does not live up to the high standards set by its predecessors.
