Ford Bold Moves Street Racing, also known as Ford Street Racing in the UK/EU, offers players the opportunity to race a selection of 18 officially licensed high-performance Ford vehicles. From the iconic 1968 Mustang GT to the impressive 2007 Shelby GT500, this game takes you on a nostalgic journey through the Ford racing legacy.
Despite its noble intentions of creating an affordable title for all gamers, Ford Bold Moves Street Racing falls short in several areas. The game’s standout feature, Maximum Team Control, allows players to switch between a team of three vehicles during a race, providing an interesting twist to the gameplay. However, this innovation is overshadowed by subpar execution.
One of the game's touted elements is a progressive damage system, which claims to enhance realism by reflecting the impact of every hit on the appearance, performance, and drivability of the cars. While the concept is intriguing, the execution leaves much to be desired. The damage effects feel minimal and fail to deliver the immersive experience they promised.
In terms of graphics, Ford Bold Moves Street Racing caters to nostalgic enthusiasts with its retro-inspired visuals. The art style and design elements evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of classic racing games from the past. Although the overall graphical quality may not live up to modern standards, it successfully captures the essence of vintage gaming.
Unfortunately, the gameplay falls flat in delivering the same level of excitement found in classic racing titles. The controls lack precision and responsiveness, resulting in a frustrating and unsatisfying experience. The AI opponents often exhibit questionable behavior, detracting from the overall immersion and challenge of the races.
Furthermore, the lack of variety in tracks and race modes diminishes the long-term appeal of Ford Bold Moves Street Racing. The limited selection of environments and repetitive race objectives leaves players longing for more diverse and engaging content.
In conclusion, Ford Bold Moves Street Racing on PSP attempts to pay homage to classic racing games with its nostalgic visuals and unique team control feature. However, the underwhelming execution and lackluster gameplay prevent it from standing out in the crowded racing genre. While it may hold some appeal for die-hard Ford enthusiasts or retro gaming enthusiasts seeking a dose of nostalgia, the game falls short of delivering the thrills and excitement one would expect.
