Twisted Metal: Head-On - Extra Twisted Edition for PlayStation 2 is a blast from the past that will transport players back to the heyday of car-combat games. With added gameplay and bonus content, this edition is a must-have for true fans of the franchise.
One of the standout features of this edition is the inclusion of The Black Levels. These four never-before-played levels from the Twisted Metal: Black universe will delight fans who are eager to dive deeper into this twisted world. It's a great addition that adds even more variety to an already exciting game.
But the real star of the show is the interactive level featuring the beloved character, Sweet Tooth. This special level not only allows players to control this iconic figure but also provides behind-the-scenes content and historic factoids from the development team. It's a treat for fans who want to get a glimpse into the making of the game and the evolution of the series.
In terms of gameplay, Twisted Metal: Head-On - Extra Twisted Edition delivers the chaotic thrill of car-combat in spades. Players will find themselves behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles, each armed with heavy machine guns, turbo boost, and a unique devastating special attack. The wide-open arenas, based on locations across the globe, provide the perfect backdrop for unleashing vehicular mayhem.
With an arsenal of weaponry at your disposal, including homing missiles, fire rockets, and napalm, you'll have no problem delivering explosive attacks on your opponents' vehicles. The advanced combo moves, such as rear fire, freeze missiles, and FLAK, add an extra layer of strategy, enabling players to confuse and disable the competition.
However, despite its nostalgic appeal and enjoyable gameplay, Twisted Metal: Head-On - Extra Twisted Edition does have a few drawbacks. The graphics, while decent for its time, can't quite match up to today's standards. Additionally, the controls can be a bit clunky and take some getting used to.
Overall, Twisted Metal: Head-On - Extra Twisted Edition for PlayStation 2 is a worthwhile addition to any retro gaming enthusiast's collection. With its bonus content, nostalgic feel, and reminiscent gameplay, it's a trip down memory lane that will satisfy fans of the series. Just be prepared for some dated graphics and slightly cumbersome controls.
