Ninja Pizza Girl is a platformer game that combines old-school action with a heartfelt message that resonates deeply. With its dedicated speedrun mode and charming comic cut-scenes hand-drawn by a real teenage girl, it brings a unique and authentic experience to the table.
The game follows the story of Gemma, a sixteen-year-old girl who works as a pizza delivery ninja for her family's independent Pizzeria. Set in a world where mega-corporations exploit the poor and finding quality pizza is a challenge, Gemma must navigate various obstacles to uphold her ideals, protect her family, and keep their business thriving.
One of the standout features of Ninja Pizza Girl is its nostalgic feel. It captures the essence of classic retro games, bringing back memories of simpler times in gaming history. The gameplay mechanics, pixelated graphics, and catchy chiptune soundtrack all contribute to the game's charm, making it a delight for seasoned retro gaming enthusiasts.
However, despite its nostalgic appeal, Ninja Pizza Girl does fall short in certain areas. The platforming elements, while solid, can sometimes feel repetitive and lack variety. The controls, although generally responsive, may occasionally frustrate players with their slight clunkiness.
Another aspect worth noting is the game's rating of 3.5/10. While it may seem low, it should be acknowledged that the rating is not indicative of the entire gaming experience. It reflects the overall opinion of the reviewer, and while there are weaknesses, Ninja Pizza Girl still manages to provide an enjoyable and unique platforming adventure.
In conclusion, Ninja Pizza Girl delivers a slice of retro gaming goodness with its old-school action, heartfelt message, and charming visuals. While it may not achieve perfection in every aspect, its nostalgic feel and genuine effort to bring something new to the table make it a worthwhile addition to any retro gaming collection. Whether you're a fan of classic platformers or looking for a game with a deeper meaning, Ninja Pizza Girl is worth a taste.
